Cammila & MC of Dressed Up Like a Lady - JORD Blog This is our third installment of blogger interviews and this time we have Cammila and MC, the husband and wife team of the style blog Dressed Up Like a Lady. Cammila reviewed our Sully model and both she and MC wore it so well that we’ve found ourselves returning to the blog in an attempt to steal their style. This Midwest couple could teach us all a thing or two (or like, eight) about full on living life. You should check out their blog, it’s worth making time for. Wood Watches by JORD JORD is run by artists, designers, marketers, and minders. We spend our days creating, considering, arguing, and hopefully agreeing. Then we'll scrap it all for the joy of starting new. We have fun. This is our journey. We are focused on creating timepieces made from all-natural wood that are modeled after a modern lifestyle. We value sustainability, efficiency, and experiential living. We make our watches for people who don't just have somewhere to be, they have somewhere to go. The value of a watch is not in being able to tell how much time has passed, but in being aware of the need to make that time count. Moments are bigger than minutes and your watch should tell more than time. Start the conversation JORD Logo JORD Logo

This is our third installment of blogger interviews and this time we have Cammila and MC, the husband and wife team of the style blog Dressed Up Like a Lady.  Cammila reviewed our Sully model and both she and MC wore it so well that we’ve found ourselves returning to the blog in an attempt to steal their style. This Midwest couple could teach us all a thing or two (or like, eight) about full on living life. You should check out their blog, it’s worth making time for.

We’re working on living a creative, healthy life where we get to spend as much time with each other as possible. It sounds simple but there's always more to strive for.” –MC

JORD: You and your husband are self-described as unrepentant maximalists.  Do you feel like the minimalist movement has made a dirty word out of consumerism?

CAMMILA: Not at all! Mass production is hardly a reason to hate on an aesthetic. Besides, every style that's passed in and out of vogue since the industrial revolution has been linked to consumerism. We all get sick of something when it becomes ubiquitous, but I'd rather be stuck looking at something with cookie-cutter minimalist style than something with no style at all. And hey, minimalist architecture and furniture can look badass with maximalist embellishments (Image search "70's loft" and you'll see what I mean!).

JORD: Your family’s lovely life is set in the Midwest (we love this as we are St. Louis founded and fueled ourselves). What about the Midwest landscape and lifestyle has influenced your look? Both the clothes you wear and the things you surround yourself with.

MC: The modest, unpretentious reputation of the Midwest has a lot of truth to it. There's not a lot of pressure here to impress everybody, so people's personal style tends to be very genuine. Stylish people in the Midwest have a different kind of confidence about their choices than you see on the coasts, because they dress for themselves.

JORD: Your family is at no loss for creative outlets, what would you say each of you enjoys the most? Photography, music, crafting, sewing?

CAMMILA: It's kind of funny how you take these outlets for granted when you live a generally creative lifestyle; we couldn't do our 9-5 jobs without writing, we couldn't nurture out daughter's interests without crafting, we couldn't wear what we wanna wear without at least a little sewing, etc. But if you wanna get all touchy feely about it, we couldn't live and breathe without music. Being musicians cuts deeply enough for both of us that it doesn't have to serve any other function, we just need to play.

JORD:  As a family you have the opportunity to not only share your dreams for the future, but work on reaching them together.  What is the Collar family working towards?

MC: Living a creative, healthy life where we get to spend as much time with each other as possible. It sounds simple but there's always more to strive for.

JORD: Both you and your husband are musicians so help us out, what should we be listening to these days?

CAMMILA & MC:

The 1975 - self titled

Takuya Kuroda - Rising Son

Craig Handy - Craig Handy & 2nd Line Smith

Diego Garcia - Paradise

Hunterchild - self titled

Nick Curran - Reform School Girl

Maritime - Human Hearts

Paramore - self titled

Ra Ra Riot - Beta Love

The Joy Formidable - Wolf's Law

JORD: What do you waste your time doing?

CAMMILA: Dinking around on the internet.

MC: Screen capping 70's movies.

JORD: What do you wish you had more time for?

CAMMILA: Love, sex, and rock and roll.

MC: Love, sex, and jazz.

JORD: What should humanity – as a whole – spend more time doing?

CAMMILA: Thinking about shit before they say it.

MC: Eating vegetables, probably.

JORD: This person inspires you – who is the first person that’s popped into your head?

CAMMILA: Freddie Mercury

MC: Nick Curran

JORD: If you were rich enough for just one luxury – the rest of your life would remain the same – what wo ...uld it be?

CAMMILA & MC: Having a grocery delivery service that would bring our leafy greens and wacky but delicious vegan food to our door no matter what not-vegan-friendly corner of the globe we travel to.

Thank you! again to both Cammila and MC for taking  the time.  For more Collar family antics head over to their style blog, Dressed Up Like A Lady and if you too would like to dress up like a lady yourself, check out their Etsy Shop.
